Two diabetes drugs recently had their first generic versions approved.

Saxagliptin, alone and in combination with metformin hydrochloride, is approved as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It has been sold under the brand names Kombiglyze and Onglyza. Ertugliflozin, with the brand name Steglatro, is approved as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. Note that the FDA states that drugs are not always commercially available immediately after approval.
