Case reports describe unusual occurrences in patients with diabetes
Recent case reports focused on linagliptin-induced pancreatitis and euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis after cardiac surgery.
Two case reports related to diabetes were published by Annals of Internal Medicine: Clinical Cases on Oct. 3.
One case described a patient with type 2 diabetes who presented with one day of progressively worsening sharp epigastric pain radiating to the back, associated with nausea, vomiting, and decreased oral intake. The patient was found to have linagliptin-induced acute pancreatitis that resolved with the discontinuation of the medication. The other case reported on a patient who developed euglycemic ketoacidosis while on renal replacement therapy after cardiac surgery.
