Test strips recalled

The SPOTCHEM II Basic PANEL-1 Reagent Test Strip and SPOTCHEM II Glucose Reagent Test Strip may report falsely low blood glucose levels.

The SPOTCHEM II Basic PANEL-1 Reagent Test Strip and SPOTCHEM II Glucose Reagent Test Strip are being recalled because they may report falsely low blood glucose levels, the FDA announced on Jan. 28.

This potential inaccuracy poses a risk that clinicians would not diagnose hyperglycemia in a timely manner and may fail to treat elevated blood glucose levels. About 99 boxes, each containing 25 test strips, have been recalled in 8 states. There have been no related reports of illness or injury.
